Neighbourhood guide
Bandra West.
Reviewed: 11 July 2026
Bandra West is a neighbourhood built on contrasts: a Portuguese fishing village swallowed by Mumbai, a coastline of promenade walkers and joggers, a lane culture of independent cafes and art studios, and a skyline that still lets you see the sky. It moves fast and feels personal — easy to mistake for a small town until the auto-rickshaw drops you at Carter Road and you remember you are in a city of twenty million.
Places worth knowing.
Carter Road
A seaside promenade that shifts from morning joggers to evening families to late-night walkers. The cafes along the strip are reliable, the sunsets are reliable, and the crowds are reliably worth it. About a five-minute walk from most Infiniti Casa properties near the sea.
Stays near here →Pali Hill
A leafy residential pocket with winding lanes, low traffic, and an unhurried pace that surprises first-time visitors. Independent bookshops, neighbourhood bakeries, and older bungalows sit alongside newer builds. Less than a minute from Little Bandra Studio on foot.
Stays near here →Chimbai Village
One of the oldest fishing communities on the Bandra coastline. The lanes are narrow, the pace is slow, and the light at midday is remarkable. Cloud House and Bandra Art House sit in or near these lanes. Visitors looking for Bandra's pre-modern character find it here.
Stays near here →Bandstand
A wide seafront promenade south of Carter Road, famous for its open-air views, rock-cut steps, and the occasional film-star neighbour. Bandra Cottage and India House are a short walk from here — close enough to be worth the early morning visit.
Stays near here →St Andrew's Church and Hill Road
The gothic church at the edge of Hill Road anchors the neighbourhood's older identity. Hill Road itself is Bandra's main shopping street — busy, unbeautiful, and essential for groceries, flowers, and a particular kind of everyday city energy.
Getting here and around.
From the airport
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport is approximately 12–20 kilometres north of Bandra West. Travel time by cab is typically 30–60 minutes depending on time of day. Always allow extra time during peak hours (8–10 am and 6–9 pm). Verified: July 2026.
Within Bandra
Bandra West is connected to the western suburbs and the city centre by train (Bandra railway station, Western line), auto-rickshaw within the western suburbs, and cab services throughout. Not all lanes accept full-size cabs — some properties note a two-minute walk from the cab drop point.
Travel times are approximate. Verify conditions on arrival — Bandra lanes and traffic change seasonally and with local construction.
